Overseas Qualifications
Volleyball England welcomes overseas referees. To register as a referee in England, we need to evaluate the level of prior qualifications awarded by another National Federation to ensure they align with Volleyball England's refereeing award structure.
There is a non-refundable assessment fee of £30 to have an overseas qualification assessed by Volleyball England. Referees must be available to officiate in the National Volleyball League.
Overseas Qualifications
Applicants need to be aware of these conditions before applying:
- National Federation qualifications must have been awarded after 1st January 2012.
- A non-refundable assessment fee of £30 (plus 3.2% + 50p service fee) applies.
Application process
Please send the following information to the Volleyball England Workforce Team via email:

Evaluation Process
When you have provided us with this information we will assess your qualification against the VolleybalL England grade structure.
If you are successful:
- You will recieve an 'Overseas Referee' Grade that will be displayed on your VolleyZone account.
- After an official observation, you will be assigned an appropriate Grade.
- You will be eligible to register as a referee with Volleyball England.
- Lastly, all appointments for the National Volleyball League are managed through the Referee Management System. You will need to update your availability for appointments within the system.
Please do not try to purchase a referee registration until you have had your qualification assessed.
If you are unsuccessful, you will be given a reason.
