Sitting
Interested in becoming involved as a sitting volleyball official or want to pursue your certification to a higher level?
Our sitting volleyball refereeing pathway allows referees to plot their own learner journey through a range of qualifications. No age restrictions apply to the domestic course, however to become an International Sitting Referee you must be under 45.
Grade 4S
The Grade 4S Sitting Award is the first step on the Volleyball England Sitting Referee Education pathway. During the course, you will understand the rules of the game and the fundamental technical and tactical techniques used within a 6-a-side game.
There are three routes available to achieve the Grade 4S qualification:
- If you're already a qualified Volleyball referee then you'll only be required to take a half day course.
- If you do not currently hold a Grade 4 volleyball referee qualification you can still pass the exam but won’t be granted a Grade 4S certification until a Grade 4 exam has been completed. This is to ensure that the referee is competent in scoring and knows the basic rules of volleyball.
- Exceptionally, if you are an experienced player or coach, you can be eligible to partake in only a half day Sitting Referee course after attaining the Grade 4 volleyball referee qualification, in order to gain the full Grade 4S qualification.
