Where to try out to become a future volleyball star

As the nation celebrates Team GB’s inspiring performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the search has officially begun to find the next generation of UK sporting talent.

UK sport has launched Find Your Greatness, a campaign aiming to identify future Team GB or Paralympics GB stars from across the nation.

The joint recruitment scheme was developed between UK Sport, the BOA, BPA and British Volleyball (in conjunction with the home nations) to use the power of the Games to encourage people into sports at any level.

The campaign is seeking young athletes for a range of disciplines, including skeleton, cycling (track, mountain biking, BMX freestyle and BMX racing), rowing, modern pentathlon, weightlifting, climbing, shooting, volleyball, handball, and all para sports.

Similar campaigns in the past have successfully produced GB athletes such as rowing champion Helen Glover, skeleton gold medalist Lizzy Yarnold, taekwondo silver medalist Lauren Williams and Para-Canoe double Paralympic champion Emma Wiggs.

As part of this campaign there will be 10 regional assessment days where individuals will go through physical and psychological testing and meeting the sports to find out about each of them.  

From this individuals can be signposted to clubs, selected (by each sport) for further sport specific testing or leave the process having had a great taster of sport.

The dates and locations for these regional assessment days are listed below:

• Glasgow - 2nd November

• Newcastle - 3rd November

• Leeds - 9th November

• Manchester - 10th November

• London - 16/17th November

• Swansea - 23rd November

• Bristol - 24th November

• Birmingham - 1st December

• Norwich - 7th December

• London - 8th December
